Tips & Tricks For Hanging Vinyl Banners

The right signage makes all the difference at trade shows and other marketing events, and if you don’t have good signage there’s a good chance your brand will get totally ignored by your target audience. Using creatively designed banner stands and fabric banners is one of the easiest and most effective ways to promote your products and services to potential customers.

No matter what you use—retractable banners, stand-up banners, wall banners—the reality is that vinyl signage remains a versatile and cost-effective option for those looking to advertise a business. That said, hanging a banner correctly is as important as designing it. If you don't hang it properly, it could look wrinkled and creased, and such a banner will make a poor impression on your target audience.

In this article, we share tips and tricks you can use to hang your banners properly and avoid wrinkles and creases.

Hanging Banners With Grommets

Using Ropes

You can use a rope or cord to hang your banner from walls, poles, pillars, fences or any other free-standing structure. Here's how you can hang effectively:

  • First, decide where you're going to hang the banner. Doing so will help you determine how many grommets are necessary (two or four).
  • The next step is to loop rope to each grommet; each grommet should have its own loop.
  • Tie the rope to the pillar, pole, or fence using a square knot.

Using Bungee Cords

Bungee cords are a step up from the regular polyester ropes. They make it easy to stretch the banner and attach it to any free-standing structure. Unlike standard ropes, bungee cords require no knots. Here's how you should tie a banner using bungee cords:

  • First, figure out where you will secure the banner.
  • Next, push the bungee loop through all four grommets to ensure even tension distribution.
  • Loop the cord over the edge of the banner to make a knot and secure it.
  • Now attach the bungee cord to the desired structure using the provided hooks.

Using Suction Cups

You can use suction cups to hang a banner on your shop window or in front of other glass panes. Here's how you should hang banners using suction cups:

  • Attach one suction cup to the window or glass pane. This is your anchor point.
  • Next, place one grommet over the suction cup’s pin.
  • Pull the banner tight and ensure that it's straight. Now pin the other end of the banner using another suction cup.
  • Place two more suction cups and position the other grommets over them using the included hooks.

Avoid The Hassle Of Hanging Banners By Using Retractable Banner Stands

While vinyl banners are easy to hang (once you know how to do it), there might be situations where you won’t have access to a free-standing structure from which you can hang a banner. In such scenarios, you can use one of our versatile banner stands to show off your vinyl banners. They work well at trade shows, exhibitions, and other marketing events.

Retractable banner stands are easy to carry, and you can quickly attach your banner to a hook and then unroll it to create a free-standing display. Once the event is over, unhook it, roll the banner back into the bottom stand, and then you can quickly store it away till the next event. Retractable banner stands are suitable for both indoor and outdoor events, and they’re incredibly long-lasting.
